FAQ

Ravensford Physiotherapy: Home based Physio & Rehab in Hampshire – FAQs

What is Neurophysiotherapy?  This is a problem solving treatment approach for those affected by damage or disease to the nervous system (brain or spinal cord). The aim is to improve movement and function and also to promote health and well being.

What Conditions do you Treat?  Any adult with a neurological disorder affecting movement and function. I also provide treatment for generalised weakness, loss of balance, confidence and mobility.

How can you help me?  An individual assessment is recommended, as everyone is different.   I will talk to you about your goals, and agree a treatment plan with you.   I can also advise/teach others involved in your rehabilitation if appropriate.

Do I need a referral?  A referral is not needed, but you may wish to inform your G.P. or Consultant that you have started a course of physiotherapy.

How do I make an appointment?  Please fill in the contact form on this website (under the ‘Contact’ heading), or telephone 07840 037910 or 0208 242 6098.  You can also email  sarah.atherton@ravensford.co.uk      Please feel free to contact me for an informal chat/discussion.

What can I expect at the first visit?  I will ask you about any relevant medical conditions, your current problems and what you want to achieve.  After an assessment, and agreement about your goals, I will suggest a treatment plan and recommend a  number of sessions . This first assessment will take approximately one hour.

How many sessions will I need?  This can vary – everyone is different.  I will plan your therapy sessions with you, completing regular reviews, and give you feedback about your progress.  Additional  sessions with Hazel, an associate practitioner, may be planned to give you additional therapy intensity.

How long are the sessions?  The first assessment session will take just over one hour. After that, sessions may be 60 minutes or 45 minutes depending on your requirements.

Who is the Associate Practitioner?  Hazel is a  non-qualified practitioner who has considerable experience and skills in rehabilitation. She can provide additional sessions planned by the physiotherapist,  to give you more therapy intensity to help you progress.  Sessions are charged at a cheaper rate (see fees).

How do I pay?  I can accept cheques, BACS transfer, or cash. I am not able to accept payment from credit/debit cards, and am not registered with health insurance companies.

How do I make a complaint?  Please contact me at soon as possible so that I can listen to your concerns without judgement and work to resolve any problems.  You can read the Ravensford Physiotherapy complaints policy here.

What geographical area do you cover?  Within an approximate 20 mile radius of my base (Wickham) covering South Hampshire between Eastleigh, Winchester, East Meon and Fareham.  If you live outside this radius, please contact me to see if I can work with you. Please note that there may be a small surcharge to cover extra mileage and travel time depending on your location.
